Dec 1853--The estate of Pleasant Littleton has been suggested insolvent. (List of claims against the estate)

Pleasant Littleton married Catharine Anthony on 7/23/1828. They appear in the 1830 Census with a son aged 0-5 yrs and in the 1840 Census with two sons (aged 5-10 & 10-15) and three daughters (aged 5-10 and two 0-5). Later records mention only two daughters. Widow Catharine Littleton married Sanford Ingram on 5/12/1857. Her son George appears in the Ingram household until his marriage.

They
had no children. The family story is that she was thrown from a
horse and was an invalid until she died. George was a
Captain in the Union Army.
He married (2) Malinda Hart 27 Aug. 1854, daughter of John Sawyer Hart and Letetia Marney. Three children:
William B. Littleton b: Jan 1865, Wilson Elkanah Littleton b. Jun 1867, Samuel Albert Littleton b. Jan 1874. In a copy of a letter from Albert Littleton, he says that Samuel was killed by a cousin.
Note: My line to Thomas is from my mother, Sue Bernice Littleton Cover, dau. of Blaine Littleton, son of William B. Littleton, son of George. I would be interested in contact with anyone researching this line, or William and Sarah Cottingham.

An aunt said that Samuel Albert Littleton was married had children and he died in a mental hospital in Medical Lake Washington in the early 1950's.Samuel Albert LITTLETON was born in January 1874 in Roane County, Tennessee. Samuel married Mary E. BRANHAM before 1893 in Roane County, Tennessee. Mary was born in April 1873.

……… 4 Walter A. LITTLETON was born on 13 August 1904 in Roane County, Tennessee. He died on 25 October 1904 in Roane County, Tennessee and was buried in Swan Pond Methodist Church Cemetery, Roane County, Tennessee.
Mary divorced Samuel and later re-married and lived in Kent, WA. No other children.
It appears that Samuel was not killed by a cousin, this was probably a way of "writting him off" as a "bad apple" in the family

Since there are so many things in old records that refer to some sort of mental illness that does not translate well to our modern day understanding, I use old family stories with caution, but they are always interesting.
I found a record of a marriage in Roane County. S. A. Littleton to Mollie Branham on 28 April 1893. County Court Records, film # 0560067-0560089
