JOHN SILVEY AND FIRST WIFE, RHODA CUNNINGHAM
John SILVEY b: Abt. 1802 in TN d: Jun 1860 in Morgan Co. TN
+Rhoda CUNNINGHAM b: 15 Jan 1784 in Chesterfield Co. VA
m: 18 Sep 1820 in Roane Co. TN, sec. George Arnold
The 1830 Roane census has two John Silveys, and they are listed fairly near each other and other Silvey families. I believe the one on page 63 would be John and Rhoda, and it shows two young sons, and two young daughters. On one side of John Sylvy is Joseph Liles and Charles Sylvy. Valentine Cunningham is 6 lines away. James Davis and Alexander Howard are nearby.
The two young daughters are not known, but one is suspected to be Susannah---see below. In 1840 Roane, John Silvey has 2 sons, and the females are shown as one 10-15, and two 15-20. This would be consistent with same two daughters above, and new wife born abt 1822, who he married in 1839.
In 1840 Roane census, John Silvey is listed on the same page with William Silvey (Sr) and John E. Nelson, presumably his father and father-in-law. He is in adjoining Anderson Co. in 1850 with new wife and family, and it looks like he died in 1860 Morgan Co. TN, but Mary is shown with children.

Michael May Sr, was father of Michael May, Jr. who m. Malinda Delmarthy Silvey. He probably has a second wife here. Michael and first wife, were also parents of Adelia May who m. Samuel Brashear(s). Adelia is thought to have died prior to 1880, so these may be her children, along with a Brashears orphan. Samuel Brashears is son of Lorenzo Dow Brashears and Martha NELSON, sister to Angeline, et al. Need to sort this out better!!

+Joseph H. HACKER b: 15 Aug 1843 in TN d: 18 Jul 1915 in Oakdale, Morgan Co. TN m: 01 Apr 1866 in Roane Co. TN Father: Joel Hacker Mother: Sarah ClarkJust a note about my g+grandmother Eliza Jane Silvey, who married Joe Hacker. Their marriage license lists her as Eliza Jane, but in 1880 the census shows her as Louisa J. and so does the 1850 census. That family had a penchant for Eliza, Elizabeth, Louisa etc. because there was an Elizabeth A. (age3) in 1850. Then in the 1860 census quoted below, we have the Louisa J from 1850 now appearing as Eliza (16) and there is a new Louisa (6). Anyone have any comments? Mistake, from another family, or is this a common occurrence in that day and time? –Alexis
Per Alexis: after her death married Nancy Ann Boles in Roane Cty. Died July 18, 1915, in Oakdale, Tenn. Received pension for Union Army service.

I may have a mix up here????
A William Riley Silvey m. Mary C. May, who is probably a sister to Michael. Haven’t figured out where Wm. R. Silvey belongs yet He was CW casualty, and Mary later married George Byrd. Another sibling, Adelia May seems to be the woman who m. Samuel Brashear – son of Lorenzo Dow Brashear and Martha Nelson. Undoubtedly all these folks related somehow.

Rhoda SILVEY b: Abt. 1857
+Arthur Hazlewood HENLY b: Abt. 1856 m: 30 Sep 1879 in Roane Co. TN Father: Alexander Henly Mother: ElizabethInformation from Nancy Been Date: 6 Jul 2001
Rhoda Silvey apparently married Arthur Hazelwood Henley from Roane Co., TN on Sept 30, 1879. I believe she was born in 1856. They had several children (7, 6 who survived apparently - names from oldest to youngest Thomas S., John, Ella E., Clara Lavinia, Frank A. and Jesse H.) and they lived in Oliver Springs, TN. My daughter's great uncle Ralph Williard Henley still resides on the family's property (Jesse Henry Henley.) The property is right on Poplar creek. I visited him last summer and he stated that it had been the family farm for several generations as far as he knew. However, according to the census records listed on this message board by E.J. Tolbert there were several dwellings involved.
According to the census records I found...the Henley/Silvey family were farmers. They may have owned slaves according to some records I have pulled from the US GenWeb project...also, apparently William Silvey (Rhoda's dad?) married to Angeline was killed in the Civil War although I have found two conflicting records (which apparently is not unusual while doing these searches.)

3. Daughter born 1825-1829 ?????? Maybe Martha???
POSSIBILITY: Martha Silvey m. Ancil/Ansel Hudson. They appear in the 1850 and 1860 census. Martha is born ca 1829. They name kids Sarah A., Frances, John, Nancy J.
4. Daughter born about
1830??? Maybe Susannah???
+?Wiley LIVELY
From: Allen Huskey husk54321@netzero.net
I am interested in a Susannah Silvey born ca1830. According to the book, 301 Years of the Livelys by Trish Lively Cox, Susanna Silvey was married to Wiley Lively.
She is listed in the 1880 Anderson Co, TN census as 50 years old. From your information I would think possibly the daughter of John Silvey and Rhoda Cunningham
The reason I think this is because Jesse and Clarisa have a Daughter named Susannah, and Clarisa's mother is a Lively.
John and Malinda Seiber are at 548/548. Wilie is at 553/553
.John Silvey is at 554/554.In the 1850 Anderson CO, TN census. These people are all neighbors
