THE TWO JOHN SILVEYS

This report consists of notes collected over several years, many of them undocumented.  Using census and marriage records, this seems to be the best guess for the families shown.

It would be much appreciated if others would review this report and send me any corrections or additions.  I also urge you not to share these notes with Internet sources, commercial companies, or researchers not known to you because it is not necessarily all correct and we don't want to be party to steering people in the wrong direction.  Much more work needs to be done--especially in Morgan County.     Pat McDonald  mmcdonald3@houston.rr.com

In early Roane County there were two older Silvey men--William, Sr. and Samuel, Sr.  They both used some of the same names for their children, and we can only guess as to which child belonged to which family in most cases.  It does seem likely that each of them named an older son, John.  So far, nothing has been found to positively connect the parents, but I believe the preponderance of evidence points in the direction shown below.

It would seem that William Senior's sons all left the Roane area, except his John.  It also seems that Samuel Sr.'s descendants mostly remained in Roane.  Both men most likely had at least two wives, and the first wife--mother of most of these kids--is unknown.   Determining daughters is even more difficult!
