JOSEPH SILVEY
This man may be a brother to William and Samuel Silvey?

Could this CHADWICK be our SHADWICK folks? My Thomas Silvey married Elizabeth EDWARDS, and these guys may be kinsmen, but I don’t have any clues about the other people. Just neighbors I guess.Joseph Silvey is a big mystery. He only appears on 1826 Roane Tax List (that I can find), so he could have either just arrived in Roane, or he could have just turned 21 (not likely, since he has older children) . He is referred to as “old man”, as is his wife. And, his daughter, Polly, refers to “Uncle William”. That must surely be William Silvey, Senior.
~If Joseph was a son of Samuel Sr., then William Sr. would be an uncle to Polly. Any of the younger Williams would be her cousins. (I think this is the way it would have to be?)
~If “old Joseph and Betsey” are parents of William and Samuel Sr., then their daughter, Polly Silvey, would not refer to William as her Uncle, because he would be a brother.
So Joseph could be either a son of Samuel, or a brother of William and Samuel, but not a son of William Sr.
In 1809 Knox County, TN, Joseph Selby m Mary Johnson. I have no idea who these people are, and I can’t get the nickname “Betsy” for a person named Mary--unless she was yet another Mary Elizabeth. A couple married in 1809 COULD have teen age kids by 1826. There is definitely another family of SELBY that is different to SILVEY, as well as SIVLEY.
I have found no further trace of Brackston Silvey, although there is a marriage of a BLACKSTON W. HOWARD to Nancy Silvey in 25 Oct 1844.
No idea who “cousin” Simmonds would be???
