Descendants of William M. Butler,
son of William Butler, Sr.

1. WILLIAM M.2 BUTLER (WILLIAM1) was born 1783 in VA. He married ISABELLA.

Very few records on this family. They are on 1850 Anderson Co. TN census, living on Main Poplar Creek adjoining the families of Nancy A. Butler, Keziah Butler, and Ancil W. Manley. William must have died before 1860 because his wife, Isabella, was living in Morgan County in the home of her daughter, Emily Jane who married Preston Butler, as shown in the 1860 Morgan Census.

William M. was closely associated with the father and probably managed his father's 422-acre farm and slaves. The father apparently deeded his farm to his sons, William M. and Henry R., because in 1840 William M. executed a deed of trust to John C. McKamey against his one-half interest in the farm (K, page 72). In November 1848, N, page 174, William M. sold to Richard Oliver "farm on Main Poplar Creek, being land deed by my father to me, and on which I now live."

William and Isabella had at least the following children:

i. SARAH M. BUTLER, b. 1829; m. JOHN W. WEBSTER. (10 children)

ii. OCTAVO BUTLER, b. 1832; m. WILLIAM M. KINGSTON.

iii. EMILY JANE BUTLER, b. 1835; m. WILLIAM PRESTON BUTLER.

iv. WILLIAM LAFAYETTE BUTLER, b. 1838; d. 14 May 1910; m. (1) MARGARET QUALLS; m. (2) ANNIE L. SCARBROUGH.  See more below
