SARAH BUTLER  daughter of WILLIAM BUTLER Sr., married March 3, 1792 in Bedford County, VA, LEWIS RECTOR (1764-1829) by whom she had four children before she died in 1798 in Virginia.

LEWIS RECTOR married secondly (1799) ELIZABETH MARTIN (1785-after 1868).  The children by the second marriage have been extensively researched by Mrs. Evelyn Shelton of Boliver, MO., the research centering mainly in Warren County, KY.   [Note:  Presumably the information about the children came from this lady.  PatMc]

Roane County Deed Book E, page 409 dated 12/23/1819 shows that Lewis Rector, Sr. bought 21 acres from MOSES WINTERS of his original 249 acre tract.  Lewis Rector either remodeled a crude house, or he built the big sturdy log house at the corner of Main and Spring Streets [Oliver Springs].   This house is on the national Register.

Lewis Rector, Sr.'s family lived in this house until 1829 when he died.  The widow sold the house and farm to her son, LEWIS RECTOR, JR. in 1859 (Roane J2, page 575) and they continued to live there until after the Civil War. (Later to Gerding Family. )

Lewis Rector and Sarah Butler Rector had the following children:

  1. JACOB RECTOR (1793 VA) m MAY MAMIMA PEAK.  They have seven children, and lived in Warren County, KY.

  2. BENJAMIN O. RECTOR (1795-1871) m (1824) SHELL, lived in Hendricks Co., IN

  3. NANCY RECTOR

  4. ELIZABETH RECTOR m _____PRYOR

Lewis Rector and Elizabeth Martin had the following children:

  1. WILLIAM MERRIMAN RECTOR (1799-1829) m Sarah and had 11 children.  (KY)

  2. SARAH RECTOR (1803-1883) m (1827) JOHN H. KINGTON in Roane TN.

  3. LUDWELL RECTOR

  4. MARTIN RECTOR m (1840) NANCY D. RECTOR (Dade Co. IL)

  5. GRIGSBY RECTOR (1820) died in Civil War.  Married (1845) ANGELINA BUTLER (1829-1917).  Six children.

  6. LEWIS RECTOR, JR. (1827-1868) m EMMA E. ___
