1   BAZZEL Davis Abt 1750 - 1818 (Born probably in Maryland. Two of his brothers stated on their pension applications that they were born in Prince George County, Maryland. His father was Henry Davis, mother is probably Susannah  (unknown).  Susannah is listed on baptism records (in Prince George County, MD) as mother for two of Bazzel's younger brothers.  Came from Caswell County, NC by 1798 and was on the 1805 tax list for Roane County, TN) Owned 100 acres on Tennessee River in 1814.   Administrators:  Fanny Davis and Alfred Davis]

[Note from PatMcD:  Snyder E. Roberts research papers indicate Bazzell Davis was on the 1799 unsuccessful petition to form Roane County, as well as William Davis, George G. Davis, Britton Davis, Edward Davis, and Nathan Eldridge who mar Rebecca Davis, and John Freeman who mar Susannah Davis.

Henry Davis, father of Alfred Jasper Davis, was born about 1780 in Caswell County, NC, of Welsh descent.  He died after 1840 and before 1850 probably at Pleasant Valley, Murray County, GA.  He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Miller on 18 Oct 1811 in Roane County, TN.  Henry Davis served in the War of 1812 in Brown's Regiment, East Tennesee Volunteers, in Captain Allens S. Bacon's Company of Militia Infantry.  Betsy Miller died after 1852 in Murray County, GA.  Betsy Miller was the daughter of Henry Y. Miller and Martha C. Wyly Miller.  Henry Y. Miller was born about 1750 and died 6 Aug 1820 in Roane County, TN.  He was a Revolutionary War soldier (1777-1781), in the Continental Line of the State of North Carolina.  Martha Wyly Miller was born about 1758, daughter of James and Martha Wyly of Mecklenberg County, NC, and she died 22 Dec 1848 in Roane County, TN.

NOTE: Lanita Sconce Miller, Wichita, KS ozarkn@southwind.net is a descendant.  Littleton and Jemima MADDOX DAVIS moved from Murray County, GA to Oregon County, Missouri between 1850-1860. I have lots of documentation, as I am writing a book and will include this Davis line. Littleton H. Davis and his wife, Jemima "Mina" MADDOX were my ggggrandparents, I have pictures of their graves  and most of my lines on both sides of my family were from Oregon County or stopped at one time or another.

I am in the Alfred Jasper Davis line.  I can offer additional information in regard to Alfred Jasper Davis and his wife, Sarah Olive Packard Davis.  My mother, Sarah May Barber Alford of Eastland, Texas, was deeply involved in family history, but she died in January 2002, and I have possession of this information now.
