THOMAS2 FROST, SR. (JOSEPH1) was born Abt 1735 in VA, and died 1807 in Anderson Co. TN. He married (1) SARAH ?. He married (2) UNKNOWN. He married (3) MARTHA NEVIL 1799 in Knox Co, TN.

In August 1795, Thomas Frost bought from Stockley Donelson, 640 acres of land located in Raccoon Valley, Knox Co. TN. (later Anderson Co.). this conveyance is recorded in Knox Co. Deed Book C, page 244.

He built a log house which is generally believed to be the first house of record erected in present Anderson Co.

References to Thomas Frost and his brother, Rev. John Frost, may be found in Amherst and Bedford Counties, VA, as early as 1765. In 1776 they moved to Washington Co, VA and settled near Moccasin Gap. Rev. John was licensed to preach in 1780.

In 1795, two of Thomas Frost's sons, Elijah and Micajah, bought (Book D, page 108) 1000 acres of land from Stockley Donelson located in present Frost Bottom. However, Micajah is shown in the Anderson Co. 1802 Tax List as still living in Raccoon Valley on 225 acres of land, possibly because of the Indian title question. Micajah was a Rev. War soldier, and Frost Bottom was named for him.

Thomas Frost's Bible, listing his children and date of births by first wife, was handed down to Docia Ruffner Halburnt, and has been contributed to McClung Collection in Knoxville, TN.
