1 July 1844 "The State vs Asberry Akerson"  Came Samuel L. Childress att. and the defendant in proper person who being charged upon the warrant as being the father of her bastard child delivered of the body of NANCY HOLLAND for plea says he is guilty as charged in said warrant and thereupon came the defendant and John Wyatt his security who jointly acknowledged themselves indebted to the State of Tennessee in the sum of five hundred dollars to be levied of their respective goods and chattels lands and tenements yet to be void on condition that the said defendant does well and truly keep harmless and indemnify the County of Roane that the child of NANCY HOLLAND shall not become a county charge...... County Court Minute Book (1843-1849), page 84.    [This case was first mentioned on 3 July 1843]

In 1850 Roane, an 18-year old NANCY HOLLENS is living in the household of Evan E. Duncan 57, Mary A. 39, and several children.

The closest I can find to an Akerson in 1850 are several Adkisson folks, but none with a name resembling Asberry.  Wild, wild stretch is Absolom Adkisson. Guess Asberry  left town?
