Ila's sons William, James, and Elbert moved to Hardin Co., IL beginning about 1830 and form the nucleus of the Dossetts living there today. Another child of this family, Sarah, also moved to Hardin Co. about 1842-1843 along with other minor children of Ila and Polly. It's likely that both Ila and Polly died about that time accounting for the large move to IL.Ila Dosset not found in 1840 Lincoln County, TN

Found a story from the Hardin Gazette about the widow of James Holland Dosset, seems the widow Dosset had an argument with another woman over a cucumber patch. She swats the woman, the woman runs, gets her husband and they come back. Mrs Dosset hits him with her broom. He grabs her, takes the broom and holds her arms. She gets away or he let her go, goes inside and gets her shotgun and comes back. The story said he was shot in both lungs, not expected to live. Mrs Dosset turned herself in.
Peter Holland moved from Lincoln Co. TN to Pope Co. IL ca 1830. Hardin Co. formed from Pope County in 1839.
Peter Holland married Nancy Hobbs 24 Jan1818 Lincoln Co. TN. We believe this is the same Peter Holland who had a first wife in Roane Co. TN.
Peter HOLLAND'S Land Bounty Warrant File. In his sworn statement requesting warrants he states the following on 4Nov1850:
1) He is 62 years old.
2) Resident of Hardin Co Il.
3) He was a First Sergeant in the company commanded by Captain John CHITWOOD in the 4th Reg commanded by Colonel Robert STEELE.
4) Served in the expedition against the Creek Indians
5) That he was drafted at Fayetteville (Lincoln) TN on or about 28Jan1814.
6) That he was honorably discharged at Fayetteville on or about 10May1814.
He says he believes he is eligible to receive warrants due to the Act Of Congress passed 28Sep 1850. I told you he received land in 1850, the date is 1851 (online at Illinois Archives).
In the file is an envelope addressed to the Commissioner of Pensions, Washington City. On the side it says Peter HOLLAND Ill dead. I also have the file on his widow Nancy and one for his son James. A witness for her, Allen A Barnard, said he'd known her for 40 years and his bother-in-law James Blakemore had performed their marriage.
