After Martha Nelson died, Lorenzo D. Brashear seems to have farmed out his children, and then remarried in 20 Aug 1852 to Martha Williams. Lorenzo and these four sons by Martha Nelson were in Civil War.

In 1850, Samuel Brashear, age 13 born SC [SC is error] is in household of his widowed grandmother, Polly Nelson Samuel Brashear says he served in same company and regiment with William D. Nelson.

Bur. Brashears Cem (no dates) "Co. H, 3rd TN Inf. In 1880, it seems William and all of the children were with relatives. The 1890 census of surving Veterans lists him as a drummer, who enlisted 10 Feb 1862, discharged 23 Feb 1865, after 3 yrs and 13 days of service. His listing is alongside Joseph Liles, husband of his aunt, Mary E. Nelson Liles.
William Brashear's grandson, James Carl Brashears, b. 1 Feb 1914, owned Robert Samuel Brashear Bible in 1974. See Basil Brashear page for children of this couple.
In 1870, 15th District, #190-188 is Sam Beashears 30 TN and Adelia 25. in #192-190 is Bob Bushears 25 TN, Mary 20. Presumed to be these children.

This information is gathered from 1850 Morgan Co. TN census. No explanation for older child, Lucinda J? Polly Ann Davis does not seem to be related to the Robert Davis mentioned above.

Father: William Silvey, Jr. MAYBE???Civil War soldier. Pvt. in Co. G, 1st Regiment of TN Volunteers. Killed by Rebels in Winters Gap on 11 Feb 1863, while trying to return to his unit.
This couple on 1850 Roane Census. In 1870 Roane, Angeline living alone. Suspect this William Silvey is close kin to John Silvey above, perhaps brother??? Descendant: Wanda Nance nance@centuryinter.net
