Some time ago, Kay Mason sent me the following information, which is supposed to be taken from the Bible of Littleberry Roberts. I don't have any further documentation on it.   I have not included all the descendants, and have also added my notes, and notes from my dad’s files, with a **

I believe others have researched this family thoroughly in MO.  My focus has been on the Roane County, TN era.     Pat McDonald, mmcdonald3@houston.rr.com    July 20, 2000

COPY OF THE ROBERTS FAMILY BIBLE RECORD
As Written By J. G. Roberts, Jan. 23, 1943

Record of the births, marriages and deaths. Where the Bible Record does not give dates, care has been taken to give correct dates so far as they have been available. As to the little History of each family, it is as has been told to the writer, and I think they are substantially correct.

LITTLEBERRY ROBERTS
was born Sunday, February 3, 1782. He lived in Roane County Tennessee, where he died Thursday, January 27, 1842.

SUSAN TERRY DAVIS was born Sunday, June 20, 1790. Littleberry Roberts and Susan Terry Davis were married Tuesday, September 17, 1805. They lived and raised their family in Roane County, Tennessee. Susan Terry Davis emigrated to Camden County Missouri, with her children about the year of 1851. Where she died Thursday, October 19, 1871. They were Baptists.

Their children were:

1. ZERAVIAH MINO ROBERTS, born Monday, March 9, 1807. She married a Mr. Roberts, a second cousin, and they raised one daughter, Caroline Roberts, she married Able Ahart and lived near old Linn Creek, MO. Zeraviah Mino Roberts died Tuesday, June 28, 1829.

**William Roberts m Zarviah /Lavina Roberts, 1/26/1821 Roane County, TN, by J. L. Green, JP. He m2, Letitia Miller in 1830

It is my opinion this is William Roberts, b 28 Sep 1798,  son of Wright L. Roberts of Roane County, TN. Pat Mc

**Letter from LaVonne Grove, dated April 6, 1982, to Snyder E. Roberts.  “Zearviah Mino, born 9 Mar 1807, mar. William L. Roberts (a second cousin, according to family tradition).  Zearviah died 28 June 1829.”

note added to side of the letter “Zerviah and Wm. also had a son named Littleberry who died young.

“The Caroline you have listed was Rebecca Carolina, dau of  Zearviah and William L. Roberts and after Zearviah’s death Caroline lived with her aunt, Betsy Stegall, and later with her grandmother, Susan Terry Davis Roberts.  Both Caroline and her grandmother came to MO with her uncles in about 1851.   Zearviah is buried somewhere in Roane County and Caroline and Susan are buried in Erie Cemetery (Roberts family Cemetery) in Camden County, MO.  We have found that Caroline’s father, William L. Roberts, re-married and some think he lived for awhile in MO before he died but we’ve been unable to find where he died or when, or any descendants of the second marriage."

See Wright Roberts page for second family of William S.  Roberts

**William S. Roberts is the grantor in 1841 to William T. Roberts, Deed book H, page 338.

2.  ELIZABETH ANN ROBERTS was born Thursday, March 5, 1812. She married Richard Stegall, they raised four sons, M. Stegall, Artimus Stegall, Charley Stegall and Sidney Stegall. Elizabeth Roberts Stegall died about the year 1892. The Stegall's were members of the Baptist Church

**Elizabeth Roberts m Richard Stegall 12/2/1834:  Bond:  Wm. Roberts, Roane Co. TN

**Letter from LaVonne Grove says “Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” b 5 March 1812, mar. Richard Stegall, Jr. (a first cousin, son of Richard Stegall, Sr. who mar. MARGARETTA DAVIS--daughter of Surrey Davis, and of course, sister to Susan Terry Davis, wife of Littleberry Roberts, Sr.).  Elizabeth Ann died in 1892

This couple remained in Roane County.  Richard 36 and Elizabeth 37 are shown in the 1850 Roane census, with children and Caroline Roberts 22 (niece), living next door to the widow, Susan Davis Roberts, and Littleberry (Jr?) 24, and Margaret 19 .Also beside them is William T. Roberts and his family.  See end of Roberts family for Davis line.

Not near this group is Susan R. Williams 37 with children, and Margaret Stegall 49 SC in her household.  I presume this is widow of Richard Stegall Senior, and not sure who Susan R. Williams is, but must be daughter or daughter in law??

In 1860 Roane, 10th District, listed next to each other is Susan R. Williams 46, children and Margaret Stegall 67; Richard A. Stegall 46, Elizabeth 48 and children.   Only other Stegall in 1860 Roane is William Stegall 35, Milly 34 and children, living in 11th District.

Don DeFoe ddefoe@esper.com  is a descendant.  He says William married Milly Fitch on 9 Dec 1858 in Meigs County.  He believes ages in 1860 should be 38 and 22.  He confirms that Margaret Davis Stegall is Richard A.'s mother.  Richard and Susan MAY have been twins.  Richard born January 1814.
