Thomas Wiley and his wife left Edinburgh, Scotland, for America in 1753. While on the high seas a baby boy was born who was named Alexander. One researcher says that the Wileys first made their home in Cumberland Co., PA, but later moved to Caswell co., NC, where Thomas Wiley's will is recorded and dated October 1825.

Child of Thomas Wiley is:

2. i. ALEXANDER2 WILEY, b. 1753; d. 1833.

Generation No. 2

2. ALEXANDER2 WILEY (THOMAS1) was born 1753, and died 1833. He married MARTHA NOEL 1779 in Caswell Co, NC.

Alexander fought in the Revolutionary War. In 1776, he enlisted as a private from Orange Co., NC, and again in 1781 he enlisted as a blacksmith and served throughout the year under Capt. William Sanders.

The Wiley and Noel families removed to Anderson and Roane Counties, TN. Alexander Wiley was in Roane by 1807. Indications are that he was in the household of his son, Henry Howard Wiley of Roane, in the 1830 census.
